This Tablet is erected to the memory of Major Charles Johnson NICHOLSON of the Bengal Staff Corps (and brother of Brigadier General Nicholson) at Doomree on his way to join his station he died on 18th December 1862 from the effects of a wound received at Delhi
Born 23 August 1829 to Doctor Alexander Jaffray and Clara Hogg nee Nicholson
His wife Lizzie Nicholson who died of decline at Cheltenham on 17th May 1862 surviving her husband only five months.

London Gazette dated 9 January 1863.
BREVET To be Major. Captain Charles Johnson Nicholson, Bengal Staff Corps. Dated 19th February, 1861 and others.
