G041 JAMES MANSERGH WALKER. Engineer Lieutenant Commander Royal Navy on HMS Russell. Born 9 August 1879 at Monkstown, Cork, Ireland. Enlisted as Engineer Lieutenant Commander 22 June 1901. 1911 on board HMS Fort which was at Simon’s Bay Cape of Good Hope. South Africa. Died of his wounds 28 April 1916 aged 36 from an explosion when his ship ran into a mine on the 27 April which had been laid by German submarine U73. Son of Robert, city surveyor and Mary Ellen Walker, nee Procter, of 17 South Mall, Cork. Wills and Admin, Ancestry. His residence in Ireland was Riviera Terrace, Rushbrooke, Queenstown, County Cork. His effects went to Robert Walker, civil engineer.
At rest in Plot G Grave 41, Capuccini Naval Cemetery, Malta.
