Frank James DYKE. B. Sc. Lieutenant (A) Royal Navy (VR) on HMS Blackcap. Born on the 30th October 1924, killed whilst flying on the 16th July 1949 aged 24 at Wildbourclough, near Macclesfield, Cheshire. He lived at 7 Nelson Street, Crewe. He was involved in a collision while flying a Supermarine Seafire F Mk 17s He was on a formation flying exercise with another plane, same make
piloted by Lieutenant Edward Hugh Ramsden ECCLES. Lieutenant Eccles was the lead plane and Lieutenant Dyke was following when the lead plane crashed into a dry stone wall on Tagsclough Hill. Credit to Peakland Air Crashes
