Defence Fire Service Vehicle TACR

The TACR Mk2 is designed as a rapid means of positioning Fire and Rescue services close to airfield emergencies. The vehicle seats a crew of 4 (max), including the driver. It is based on a standard Range Rover chassis with a 775mm extension and additional axle and pair of wheels. The main firefighting equipment consists of a fibreglass tank containing 900 litres of Fluoro Chemical Foam at a premix ratio of 6%, which is delivered through 2 36mm x 38mm hoses by means of a single-stage centrifugal pump. Connected to the delivery hoses are foam-making branchpipes fitted with spreader jaws and are stowed either side of the vehicle. Vehicle: length 5.25m, height 2.33m, weight 4090kg, speed 0-60 in 16 secs. The hoses deliver 318 Litres a minute, total duration of 1min 40secs. This vehicle was taken out of service in 2001 and by the time the present owner acquired it, was in a bit of a state.
