Catherine (Kitty) Hannah Jollands Nurse
Died 8 July 1915 aged 21 years.
Extract from Nottinghamshire Roll of Honour -
Was born at Haxey in 1894 the daughter of Mark and Mary Jane Jollands (nee Swallow). She was from a large family having 8 siblings, Harry 1886, Ruth 1888, Thomas 1889, Agnes 1892, Rose 1896, John 1901, Violet 1903 and May 1906. Her sister, Agnes Annie, died on 24 September 1923 age 31, her father on 17 November 1930 age 73 and her mother on 4 December 1933 age 69.
Kitty was a nurse and worked at the Firvale Hospital in Sheffield she died 8 July 1915 of double pneumonia whilst nursing at Firvale House Hospital in Sheffield. The funeral service was held in Firvale House Chapel and later at the Primitive Methodist Church in Misterton.
She is buried in the cemetery just north of Misterton on the road to Haxey.
Catherine is mentioned on the Nurses Wartime Memorial at Alrewas.
Her three sisters Ruth, Rose and Agnes we all nurses also. Agnes was with the QAIMNSR and VAD and is buried in the same grave as Catherine.
