This poppy cross was placed, along with many more, at Penkhull churchyard today , Remembrance Sunday 2014 to honour 75 villagers killed in the First World War.

SCOTT Charles Lindsay Murray, Captain, 3rd North Staffordshire Regiment attached to 54 Squadron, Royal Flying Corps died 15th February 1917 aged 24 He was the son of Lt Col Lindsay Buchanan Scott (North Staffs Regt) and Sydney Mary of Ormdale Lodge, Elham, Canterbury. He was wounded at Hill 60. (Wills and Admin) He was living at Livingate Down, Dover. His effects went to his mother Sydney Margaret Scott widow of Lindsay, of Ormdale Lodge, Elham, Near Canterbury. His medal card shows the he was stationed at RAF Felixstowe
His father Lieutenant Colonel Lindsay Buchanan SCOTT, 1st North Staffordshire Regiment, attached to Army Ordnance Department was killed in action on the 14th November 1918 aged 54. (Additional Information CWGC: Order of the Medijieh (Egypt) 2nd Class. Son of John Lindsay Scott, and Mary Scott, of "Mollance," Castle Douglas, Dumfriesshire; husband of S. M. Scott, of Ormdale Lodge, Elham, Canterbury, Kent. Served in the South African and Soudan Campaigns. He is at rest in Ste Marie Cemetery, Le Harve, France
