Cecil J M PATTERSON. Detective Inspector, Special Branch, Royal Ulster Constabulary. On the 26 February 1971 while foot patrol with Constable Robert Buckley in the Ardoyne Belfast. He and other officers were responding to a police radio message which they received with reference to rioting in the Ardoyne area. They were shot by terrorists with automatic weapons during rioting in Etna Drive, Ardoyne, Belfast He and Constable Buckley died of injuries. At rest in Roselawn Cemetery, Belfast, Northern Ireland.
