One of the traffic signs reads "Tincourt". Many place names in France are reused with another local place or the region added to the name to distinguish them. In this case I lean towards Tincourt-Boucly which at the time were two villages on the Somme. Sign8ficant fighting took place there in 1916 and again in 1918.
There are also signs in German one of which is pointing to a railway station.
I'm going to hazard a guess and say that this picture was taken during the last months of the war between July and November 1918 when German troops were pushed back following the failure of their spring offensives and the inability to replace their losses.
What Mike said, also; many towns and villages names end in Court/Tourt or anything in the likes in the Somme region until Compiegne and Beauvais. I was definitely thinking the Somme instead of the Verdun areas and battlefields.
