Feck me, I didn't even see the gun first time round! I thought it was superstructure until I read DP's notes!

OMG, I never had any idea the RN had this submarine. Surely the recoil would just about tear the bottom out of her. Wiki states that the gun could only be loaded on the surface and was aimed via a simple bead sight, so the range wasn't needed, the destruction of a 12" hit had to be total to succeed.
How you could accept that as an effective strategy makes me shiver.....she was lost with all hands in 1925 after being rammed and the gun being torn out of her, causing flooding.
