The BMP-2 was in the design stage and was based on the western type of design with the 30-mm cannon instead of previous model. The Afghanistan War experience made the developers complete the design of the mechanism with a bigger elevation angle for the cannon barrel. Later BMP-2 became the best fighting machine for highland fighting action prosecution in Afghanistan. The BMP-2 is camouflaged and equipped with gun mounted on the tripod machine.
The BMP-2 (Boyevaya Mashina Pekhoty, Russian: Боевая Машина Пехоты, literally "infantry combat vehicle") is a second-generation, amphibious infantry fighting vehicle introduced in the 1980s in the Soviet Union, following on from the BMP-1 of the 1960s.
