Major 92766 Robert Langdale BICKERSTAFF, Major, 7th Seaforth Highlanders killed in action in Normandy on the 26th June 1944 died aged 36 He was the son Robert Alexander Bickersteth, Surgeon of the town of Kirkby Lonsdale, Ex Major RAMC and Ellen Constance nee Wilson of Casterton Hall, Kirkby Lonsdale and husband of Penelope Bickersteth (nee Waterfield), of Kirkby Lonsdale, Westmorland. M.A. (Cantab.). He is commemorated on his commemorated on his parents memorial in St Mary's churchyard, Kirkby Lonsdale, Cumbria and he is at rest in St. Manvieu War Cemetery, Cheux, Calvados, France
