SANKEY Benjamin. Private, 6809, 2nd King’s Shropshire Light Infantry. Died 7th May 1916, aged 37 years of enteric fever, (typhoid), at Malta, which he contracted while on active service at Salonika. Son of Isaac and Elizabeth, nee Whitehead of (1891 census) 14 Cartway, Bridgnorth and husband of Emma Sankey, of 15 Severn Street, Bridgnorth, Shropshire. His widow was granted a war gratuity on the 22nd September 1916, revised on the 27th August 1919. In 1911 he was living with his wife and children at 15 Severn Street, Bridgnorth, Shropshire.
PIKE Harold Edward. Private 13319, 3rd Dorsetshire Regiment attached to the 7th (Service Battalion) Royal Munster Fusiliers, formerly CH304439 Royal Navy and Private 53127, Royal Garrison Artillery.
Born 23 March 1885 to John and Esther Pike of 138 Stewart Road, Battersea, London. 3 June 1890 started school aged 5 at New Road School, Battersea,
18 July 1903 he joined the Royal Navy Shore Base, HMS Pembroke II as Stoker 2nd Class CH304439. Served on three ships, Northumberland, Acheron and Andromach. He left the navy off shore base HMS Pembroke II 8 September 1904.
1911 with his wife and shildren at 153 Market Street, Eastleigh Hampshire. Occupation heavy lifter and slinger.
Died at Malta on the 6th May 1916 aged 31 of meningitis. Husband of Mrs .Lucy Agnes Akehurst (formerly Pike), of Tennysop House, Davis Rd., Parkstone, Dorset.
TOTTEM Charles. Private, 322, Eastern, 2nd General Hospital, RAMC, Brighton attached to 3rd Malta Garrison Coy, Royal Army Medical Corps. died 30th April 1916 in a hospital in Malta of meningitis . Enlisted at Brighton, Sussex. A war gratuity was granted to Henry Goodwin 18 September 1916 revised 7 June 1920
