2nd Lieutenant Arthur Noel EYRE. 6th Sherwood Foresters, attached to Royal Air Force. Killed in action 26 September 1918 aged 27. Son of John Isaac and Eliza Godfrey Eyre, nee Hill, of Avondale Rd., Chesterfield. Commemorated on a memorial window in St Mary and All Saints Church, Chesterfield, Cheshire. Commemorated on the Arras Flying Services Memorial, France.

2nd Lieutenant Arthur Noel EYRE was the observer in DH 4 D8419 of No 57 Sqn RAF, flown by Lt Percy Walter Johnson Timson, when both airmen were killed in action on 26 September 1918. They were on a bombing mission over Cambrai when they were engaged in combat with enemy aircraft and shot down out of control from 1000 feet.

His home address was Beech House, Highfield Road, Chesterfield, Derbyshire. Lieutenant, Sherwood Foresters attached to the R.A.F. died 26th September 1918 in France. His effects went to his father, John Isaac Eyre, house Furnisher.
