Albert John LUKER

Extended Description
LUKER Albert John. Fireman, Mercantile Marine Reserve on HMS Osmanieh. Died 27th June 1917 aged 22 years in a hospital in Malta from mastoiditis and otitis media. His mother K M Luker of Halynn Place East Street, Walworth S.E. was informed of his death.

At rest in Plot C Grave 350 Capuccini Naval Cemetery, Malta.

Update: Mastoiditis, a complication of otitis media, is treated with antibiotics which only became available in useful form (Peneciline) after 1941. Before that it was a common cause of death among children especially.
