- CLOSEN Ernest. Petty Officer Stoker, 298345 Royal Navy on HMS Harrier. Born 6 February 1883 at Stepney London enlisted 10 September 1901 on HMS Duke of Wellington II. Occupation prior to enlistment carman. Died 28th July 1917 aged 36 years in a hospital in Malta of a perforated duodenal ulcer and general peritonitis. His sister Miss M Closen of 30 Sewardstone Road Old Ford, London was informed of his death.
At rest in Plot C Grave 353 Capuccini Naval Cemetery, Malta.
