Never played it myself. Did play a lot of the Close Combat games though, especially A Bridge Too Far and The Russian Front.

All good titles! I think I went through every possible wargame from that era. Makes me want to re-install a bunch of them

I did end up getting one of the re-released/re-worked games later on. At first you were like a fire brigade going all over the place to hotspots. In the re-worked games they changed that to a sort of turn-based system were you control loads of generic battlegroups. Was a total game breaker for me as it removed the element of building up your force and taking care so they wouldn't get killed. Now you could just swap entire companies when one was used up.
