William E MARKINSON. Killed in Action August 1918.
Private 36044 William Edward MARKINSON, 11th Royal Fusiliers killed in action 30th August 1918 aged 27. He was born on the 17th November 1890 to John and Isabella Markinson, of Leeds. He was baptised on the 13th December 1890 at St Peter's Leeds, home address was given as Back of Nelson Street, Leeds. He was the husband of Maria Markinson, (nee Doolan) of 19, Union Street, Vicar Lane, Leeds. In 1911he was living at the home of his in-laws, Joseph and Jane Doolan, with his wife Maria at 9 Cross Burmantofts Street, Leeds. He was by occupation and under presser tailoring. At rest in Combles Communal Cemetery Extension, Somme, France.
This poppy cross memorial was in Lady Chapel, St Peter, Leeds.
