ABELL Henry Corporal 113738, 305th Siege Battery, Royal Garrison Artillery, died of wounds 12th July 1917 aged 19. Son of Benjamin & Dora of Lowton House, Kirk Ireton, Buried at Coxyde Military Cemetery, Belgium
ALLSOP John William Private 18116, 10th Sherwood Foresters, Notts & Derby Regiment, killed in action 17th February 1917 aged 26. Son of John & Frances. Commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France
BATES John Private 3839, 2/5th Sherwood Foresters, Notts & Derby Regiment died 13th December 1915 aged 32. Son of John & Martha and husband of Rose of 32. Mill Street, Belper, Derbyshire. Buried at Holy Trinity churchyard, Kirk Ireton. [Both the memorial and the R.of.H have him in the Royal Army Service Corps]
DYER William George Lance Corporal 24508, 2nd Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry killed in action 14th April 1917. Commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France. [The CWGC have him listed as George]
CAULDWELL Robert Corporal 41876, 1st West Yorkshire Regiment, formerly 31678, Sherwood Foresters, Notts & Derby Regiment, died of wounds 14th July 1918.Son of John & Elizabeth of Turnditch and husband of Ellen of Well Bank, Kirk Ireton. Native of Turnditch and he is buried at Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery, Belgium
FORD Leonard Private 3293, 1/6th Sherwood Foresters, Notts & Derby Regiment killed in action 1st July 1916 aged 24. Son of George & Patience Eliza of Hemps Yard, Kirk Ireton. Buried at Foncque Villers Military Cemetery, France
HODGKINSON Arthur Corporal 39101, 4th Special Reserve, South Staffordshire Regiment killed in action 26th April 1918 aged 30. Son of Catherine of Kirk Ireton and husband of Mary Hettie also of Kirk Ireton. Commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial, Belgium
DRANFIELD Francis James 3rd Clerk, 299029, G.H.Q., Orkney & Shetland Group, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve died 11th October 1918 aged 26. Son of Mary Conway, formerly Dranfield of Pitty Wood Farm, Wirksworth, Derbyshire and the late Ernest William Dranfield. Buried at Holy Trinity churchyard, Kirk Ireton

Native of Kirk Ireton and enlisted at Blackwell Hullard, Derbyshire] [The CWGC have the following, same for Labour Corps, formerly 38596, 4th Sherwood Foresters (Notts and Derby Regiment)] [Medal card index have the following; The same for the Labour Corps, formerly 30545, West Yorkshire Regiment] No record of 38596 with the Medal Index. Take your pick as to what is correct [This memorial have him with the 6th Sherwoods] He was the son of John & Elizabeth of Kirk Ireton. Buried at Caudrey British Cemetery, Nord, France aged 43
GREATOREX William [Memorial has 6th Sherwood] [CWGC] Private 110826, 3rd Durham Light Infantry, died 5th April 1919 aged 22. Son of Mrs M.E. Hudson of Kirk Ireton, and he is buried at Holy Trinity churchyard, Kirk Ireton
HITCHCOCK Wilfred Royal Field Artillery, not record found with the CWGC [Medal Card Index have the following; Driver 107611, Royal Field Artillery] He died March 1921 aged 29. Death registered at Ashbourne, Derbyshire. Son of William and Mary Ellen, nee Sherwin, In 1901, residing with his grandmother, Sarah Sherwin, at Well Banks, Kirk Ireton

Commemorated on the Roll of Honour, a RAF memorial both in Holy Trinity Church, Kirk Ireton and is buried at Berlin 1939-1945 Cemetery, Berlin, Germany, formerly West Berlin
GREASLEY William Edmund Sergeant , Wireless Operator, Air Gunner 1194273, 101 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve killed 12th March 1943 aged 20. Son of Edwin Coulson & Lydia of Wirksworth, Derbyshire. Commemorated on the R of H and the memorial in the church Buried at Reichswald Forest War Cemetery, Germany
RAINS Alfred Royal Field Artillery This commemoration appears to be in the wrong section all information found, leads to WW1 [Military Record WW1 Gunner 205185, B/190 Brigade RFA Discharged from the army 20th January 1919 from Dispersal Hospital, Dewsbury, sick & wounded. to his home at Tops Hill Farm, Kirk Ireton. his fathers name was William of the same abode. ] He died in 1922 and his death is registered at Ashbourne, Derbyshire aged 25. [Commemorated only on the R of H]
SMEDLEY Raymond Leading Aircraftman 3051773, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve died 25th July 1946 aged 20. Son of Wilfred & Mary Ann of Kirk Ireton. Commemorated only on the R of H. Buried at Rangoon War Cemetery, Burma
