Alexander Burns of 20, Snyde Street, Cobridge, Burslem, Stoke on Trent. Joined up on the 28th November 1914 aged 36years and 7 months, as Private 15740, North Staffordshire Regiment. His occupation was given as a Potters Placer, and gave his wife Mary Elizabeth, nee Brunt as the next of kin of the above address. They were married June 1902 at St Pauls Church, Burslem
He was posted 1st December 1914 (no location given) and discharged, "Not likely to become an efficient solder" on the 11th December 1914

He joind up at Lichfield 4th January 1915 as Private 9/16266, North Staffordshire Regiment aged given as 36years and 1 month.
He was posted with the 9th N.S.R. 4th January 1915 and again on the 13th January 1915. On the 15th December 1916 he was posted with the 3rd N.S.R.
He transferred at private on the 25th February 1918 to the Motorised Transport Company, Royal Army Service Corps, V.R.Depot as a driver. He took his driving test to drive military vehicles on the 26th February 1918 at the Workshops, Grove Park, Kent, and passed.
