S/Sgt. Minicozzi,Jessup, Pa. and Pfc. Andy Masiero, Newburg, NY, both of First Battalion, 290th Infantry,75th Division, examine helmet and liner pierced by an enemy bullet.
Apparently the soldier on the right is the one that took the hit. He's the only one without a helmet in his hands, just the liner. However, just conjecture.
The man on the right is Andy Masiero of Newburgh, and by the way he is my Father-In Law.... Still living in the Newburgh NY area. I am pretty sure it was during the Battle of the Bulge.

Welcome to the site, imgrumpy1, thanks for the info. This is what the shoulder patch of this division looks like:
When I checked on this division, I noted that 3 days after landing in France on 13th December 1944, they were rushed into the Battle of the Bulge as reinforcements!
I can't imagine what that must have been like. Please convey our gratitude to your father-in-law for all that he and his comrades did for my country and for Europe.
