Top US Army general says he's using ChatGPT to help make key command decisions

Maj. Gen. William "Hank" Taylor, commanding general of the Eighth Army, told reporters at the Association of the United States Army conference in Washington, DC, that he's been using ChatGPT to refine how he makes choices affecting thousands of troops.

"Chat and I have become really close lately," Taylor said during a media roundtable Monday, though he shied away from giving examples of personal use.

USN has an F/A-18 and an MH-60R go down off the USS Nimitz (CVN-68) in the South China Sea in two separate instances within a half hour.

Mover and Gonky walk through past stories of naval aviation connecting with their seafaring roots.

Bad fuel is the first theory out. Both aircraft though, how does that happen?

Chinese EW test is the internet secret squirrel theory. Mover and Gonky call it unlikely. The MH-60R would have been close to the ships.

Was the crashed MH-60R the seaguard helicopter, probably.

Requisite jokes made regarding the current location of USS Gettysburg (CG-64). Going to be their "turn" in the barrel for quite awhile.

Donald Trump has said he is going to sign an executive order banning the use of electromagnetic catapults on US Navy aircraft carriers – preferring to use 1950s-tech steam ones instead.

The US president made the announcement while speaking to the crew of the USS George Washington, a carrier that launches its F/A-18E/F Super Hornets and F-35C Lightning IIs using steam.

That stream went pretty wide. Now it has been saved as an episode.

There is alot of leadup, past history and inside baseball stuff.

All of the crew from the double incident off Nimitz have been recovered safely. Investigation to follow with usual naval alacrity.

EMALS vs Steam. Fight fight fight. About 22 minutes in.

Is Trump serious about cancelling EMALS? Carroll says you have to take it at face value because Trump is CiC.

Can Ford class be reset from EMALS/electromagnetic elevators to steam catapult/hydraulic elevators. Carroll says that is a definitive NO.

So if this change is made future unfunded Ford class carriers need to be cancelled.

Is this the end of the super carrier? Go back to Nimitz? Go back to a clean sheet acquisition circle je...design?

Carroll does not think we can go back from Ford. Not practically.
