Blast from the past. The 1st Peacekeeping mission conducted by Ukrainian armed forces since the country became independent. In the Fall of 1993, Abkhazia de facto gained independence from Georgia following the latter defeat in a short war with a breakaway republic. Abkhazians conducted ethnic cleansing of the region sending thousands of Georgians to seek shelter high up in the mountains.

However, the atrocious weather conditions made the journey a highly perilous one. Defeated Georgia appealed to the UN and the world community for aid, but in the shadow of Balkan wars nobody paid attention to Georgia's plight. Only Ukraine came to the aid of Goergian refugees. 15 Mi-8s of the Ukrainian Air Force and 2 Ka-27s of the Ukrainian Naval aviation conducted round the clock evacuation and supply missions in the Svaneti region. During three weeks in October of 1993 Ukrainian aviators saved lives of nearly 8,000 Georgians and carried hundreds of tonnes of cargo in the process. Unfortunately, the exploits of the Ukrainian airmen have largely been forgotten.

Russian media periodically puts out news that Ukrainian troops are being trained by PMCs from top companies or assisted by female sniper from Baltic states and Georgia, ISIS(!) Penal(!) battalions. Well, Ukrainians don't need any of that becuase they have Chuck Norris on their side.

Gosh, that 'White Tights' myth is still a thing ? for whatever reason Russians are really obsessed with the idea that there are female Baltic and also Georgian snipers hunting them, and no those reports about their alleged involvement in 2008 are fake too. If we had employed such ppl, they certainly wouldn't have been thrown in the very thick of it in the first place. ;)

Yes, and in units no smaller than a battalion size. There were also Polish female biathlonists involved as well. An of course, the "glorious" Serbian snipers killed no less than a full division of Ustaše

Ignore the title. Pay attention starting at 42 sec. The video shows the destruction of Ukrainian Su-25s (#04 and #33) on July 23rd, 2014 by a Russian MiG-29. The fighting took place by the Russian border, and the Russian fighter jets fired air-to-air missiles from the Russian territory.

wasn't aware of such an incident. After reading some things up, I think a Russian Su-27 ( not Mig-29 ) was suspected to have downed the Ukranian Su-25 right or is this an entirely different case ?

These guys might not look much, but they are from one of the toughest brigades in the Ukrainian military, 93rd infantry. Thanks to their courage and steadfastness Ukrainian still have an excellent foothold from which to launch an offensive to liberate Donetsk.
