Two British soldiers have suffered gunshot injuries during fighting in the Iraqi town of Al Almarah.
The men are serving with the Princess of Wales Royal Regiment, which is based in Canterbury, Kent, attached to the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders.

Both suffered gunshot wounds, but their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening - they will not be named until relatives have been informed.

The Army said the fighting broke out at about 2000 GMT on Saturday.

A spokesman said it was not known who carried out the attack on the soldiers who were travelling with the Iraqi Civil Defence Corps, north-west of Basra.

The men were reported to be from the Territorial Army, but the Ministry of Defence was unable to confirm this.

Both soldiers are being treated at a military hospital and will be flown home on Monday.
