In Geneva, on 9 November 1932 at 9.34 pm, the army fired on a crowd of civilians, killing 13 people and at least 65 wounded.

This tragic event, unheard of in contemporary Swiss history, raises many questions and has several interests. It is at first a formidable revelation of the economic, social and political climate of the time. It poses the problem of the role of the army in the maintenance of order. It had important political and electoral consequences.
