I suppose, though, for assassination, there are more practical and efficient firearms in the Russian armory.

Just remember of a, op by the Polish police hand one of the LEO used a shotgun to break a windshield. For that kind of situation, that could work. Though, nothing that can't be done with a good old maglite or the tip of an AK.

A possible advantage could be that, considering its light weight and short size, it could be issued to more members of a squad, as opposed to a regular shotgun.
But it would still remain a single shot shotgun that would require assembly (not that extensive, but it would still take a couple of very precious seconds).

True, but many of the last-ditch firearms created for that period were... special. Like an even worse STEN-clone. Rifles with pot metal parts. That sort of thing.

That shotgun looks like the sort of thing you'd put Snake-Shot in and carry around a farm in Australia, not anything you want to be burdened with on the battlefield.

I was thinking more along these lines, they also had prototypes for (unguided) MANPADS and even cruder Panzerfausts.
