One of the Polish plants is conducting talks on licensing production K2 MBT (with the replacement of parts of components for manufactured in Poland) and offering these tanks as part of the modernization program of Polish armed forces.
In my opinion 2018 is the worst period for the purchase of a new tank for the Polish Army. Before we could implement K2 for production in Poland and for the equipment of Land Forces, tanks of the fourth generation will already be presented. For this reason, K2 can quickly become an obsolete tank. Besides, these tanks were not designed for the conditions of Central Europe (they have a weak armor on the sides of the hull and the turret). Importantly, Hyundai Rotem also begins work on a new tank, called the K3.
In addition, the Ministry of National Defense, due to other modernization programs, does not currently have funds for the purchase of new tanks, and most likely these measures will not be before 2025.
