Thanks for allowing me to join the site. I served in the RUC from 1978 to 1985 when I left to join the Police in South Africa. In Northern Ireland I was initially stationed at Musgrave Street RUC Station in Belfast City Centre. They were busy times with plenty of activity. I sometimes spent too long in the warrant officers mess at the Grand Central Hotel following call-outs with the bomb disposal. Following this I transferred to East Tyrone and was a member of a Headquarters Mobile Support Unit that operated province wide out of Cookstown RUC station. Very fond memories mixed with very sad ones.
