"Another great set from Mark Stanford, taken this morning as two NATO allies' warships entered the Thames.
First up, we have the Polish mine countermeasures vessel ORP Mewa (603), in company with the German mine countermeasures vessel FGS Homburg (M1069). Both vessels form elements of the current Standing NATO Mine Countermeasures Group One (SNMCMG1). Vessels comprising the group, are rotated on a regular basis and carry out the detection and clearing of mines and ordnance that remain from previous historical conflicts. They also ensure continued freedom of navigation in European NATO waters, during their routine patrols."
