USS Long Beach (CGN-9) entering Subic Bay in August of 1987.

This photo was taken after the cruiser's comprehensive mid-life overhaul that lasted from 1980 to 1983. During this overhaul, Long Beach lost her distinctive SCANFAR phased array radar system that utilized large AN/SPS-32 radar panels on the four sides of her superstructure. Once they were removed, tracking and target illumination was taken over by the AN/SPG-55 radar.

Russia:
Revenge-class battleship Arkhangelsk arriving in HM Dockyard, Rosyth, to be transferred back to the Royal Navy and renamed HMS Royal Sovereign after 4 years of service with the Soviet Navy. February 2nd, 1949. Royal Navy personnel thoroughly inspected the ship and found much of her equipment to be unserviceable. It appeared to the inspectors that the main battery turrets had not been rotated while the ship was in Soviet service and were jammed on the centreline. She was also internally filthy with excrement through many of her compartments

The three-deck aircraft carrier Akagi and cutter competition training in Jinhae Bay.

It is a Combined Fleet tradition that cutter training takes place when the fleet arrives in port.

Cutter competitions are held several times a year, and members of the winning team are congratulated.

Given the abysmal state of Russian trenches in occupied Ukraine, this comes as no real surprise. Apparently, NCOs had other matters they preferred to occupy their time rather than keeping the ship squared away.
