Good afternoon
I have been researching my fathers WW2 service (Clifford Vincent Pope)
By the end of the war he was based Hurts Hall in Saxmundham (clerical) and sometime driver in Europe - France & Belgium
My father did not talk about the war service although I recall him saying at he drove for Montgomery, but have never any information to clarify this.
He was in the 79th Armoured Divison and looking at his service history, being non military myself, would like the following abbreviations identified from the Gunnery report

1) Weapons handled: 2 pounder Besa, 15 minutes, stationary; 15 mm Besa; Bren LMG; A.J. Rifle (LNG and AJ?)
2) Practices fired and results obtained: 30x Range – exercised; Open range (Bren), good; Bren A.A. Range: exercised (A.A)
To help understand the above the relevant image is attached.

Thank you
John

Bren Light machine gun.
AJ rifle could be AJ parker cant find much, might be a hunting rifle, maybe used as a sniper rifle.

Bren AA Anti aircraft, Bren was fitted on some british armour, with a bigger disk magazine.

He didn't get the best report!

The weapons handled are the 2 pdr tank gun, BESA 7.92mm machine gun and BESA 15mm HMG.
2nd line is BESA 15mm HMG (probably in a different mount) Bren LMG and AT Rifle.

The part about practices and results are simply in what range and conditions the practice was conducted, 30X would probably be 300yds, Open is exactly that, open ranges and then practice with the Bren gun LMG in an Anti Aircraft setting
