I was attending a wedding in Odden church in Denmark, and took this picture.

The stone commemorates the Lieutenants Willemoes and Dahlerup of the Danish Navy, and Lieutenant Soland of the Army – and 29 of their men. All died on the (last) ship of the line “Prince Christian” at the battle of Sjaellands Odde, 22nd of March 1808.

Peter Willemoes is quite a hero in Danish history. He started at the Naval Academy at the age of twelve. When he died at the age 25, in the famous (at least in Denmark) battle against the British, he had already fought in the battle of Copenhagen (where the British stole the Danish fleet), sailed in the Mediterranean – and joined the Russian navy for a while.

Currently we have a frigate named after Peter Willemoes.
