On January 18, the military attaché of the Embassy of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in Laos solemnly handed over the first tranche of IMI Galil ACE 31/32 automatic carbines manufactured in Vietnam to representatives of the Ministry of Defense of Laos.
Vietnamese agencies report that further deliveries of new weapons to Laos are under way.
Subcarbines Galil ACE 31 with 215-mm barrel and Galil ACE 32 with a barrel length of 406 mm powered with ammunition 7.62 mm x 39 replace in Vietnam local, Polish and Soviet AK / AKM with 415-mm barrel. Vietnamese ACE 31/32 models are distinguished by a different type of cob, native to old Galili. It is folded to the side, not telescopic, as in the basic model.
The weapon is powered from AK / AKM interchangeable magazines, which facilitates logistics. A certain problem is the training of instructors and soldiers, due to the different length of the Galile ACE barrel, and hence a different muzzle velocity (600 and 680 m / s) and flight trajectory in comparison with AK / AKM (715 m / s).
