It isn't that big of a price to pay, considering the many times the US (and the West in general) have let them down. And now Iranians are the ones paying for it.

Bad timing, yes, but... that had to be expected one day or another.
"Yeah go f*ck yourselves, we're out!"
* Abandons the Kurds for the umpteenth time *

"Dude WTF!"

Totally didn't see that one coming

Yeah, because of course a Pali "human rights activist" is an ultimate source of reliable information... of course. It doesn't take to be frigging genius to realize, that IN PRINCIPLE he couldn't possible know so fast and so certainly what actually happened.
The reality is that you have zero effing idea who did what and why based on reports like that - I mean, ZERO. Not in real time anyway.
From my experience, these "settler attacks" range from complete fabrications and false flags to wild out-of-context exaggerations.

Reality:

There are exactly two types of people buying into this garbage: bad faith actors using this bs propaganda as a weapon against Israel or/and Jews, or the useful idiots in the service of the former.
Fewer and fewer people around the world tend to believe your BS.

How about this Palestinian village where the crops and irrigation equipment were destroyed by Israeli children aged 10-12?
Is Ynet a far-left portal, and is Professor Haim Weiss a person who hates his own country?
It looks like spitting at Christians is not the only native sport in Israel.

More conspiracy theory nonsense, "USS Liberty was intentionally attacked by Israel" is no different from "Israel did 9/11" or "Israel killed JFK". There have been multiple investigations that came to the same conclusion that it was a mistake. Israel has accepted responsibility and paid compensation. There was absolutely no concrete credible motive to attack the ship on purpose.

First, I didn't claim the settler violence never happens. What I did say it's usually insanely exaggerated in scale and severity, and almost always is stripped of any context.
Second, I do forgive you your ignorance of internal Israeli politics, but assigning an Israeli source any kind of special significance, when it comes to this type of controversial issues is simply asinine. Imagine what kind of horseshit reality I'd be learning about UK from BBC or US from NYT, just because they happen to be "mainstream" British and American... imagine! Ynet, TOF... and pretty much every "mainstream" Israeli news source are left leaning (much like everywhere in the West). Which in Israel context mean anti-Bibi/anti-coalition/anti-Religious Zionism movement, and therefore pretty much automatically viciously anti-settler. For them it's just another weapon to embarrass Bibi and the coalition. All this has a complex historical context, but that's beside the point...
I don't know what exactly happened there, neither do you. It could be anything ranging from outright lie to just a couple of minor rascals engaged in petty vandalism... everything else is Pali "eyewitness account", which famously always true and never a lie! I mean look at the f***ing pictures, which are supposed to document the horrible destruction - a broken branch and some random pipe... FFS..

Not for a tiny second BTW I'm condoning this behavior, but the reality is that every time a settler makes an wet fart all the world cameras are going to be pointing to the S**t stain, whilst at the same time the Palis can burn, steal, stone and murder - and it all doesn't even register.

I'm sorry, but I refuse to play this f***ing stupid game. Prove your intentions and concerns are pure, as opposed dishonest underhanded opportunism to make a jab at Israel/Jews, and then I promise to take you seriously... until then F*** OFF.

Trump shouldn't have accepted to have Lebanon tied to any peace agreement.

Lebanon, through Hezbollah and Hamas and other groups, is a threat to Israel just like the Iranian's missile program and their nuclear ambitions.

Threats of different scales, yes, but threats nonetheless, all of them with great potential to destabilize the region and create (as it has already been made clear for the past 30 years or so) sectarian "tensions" prone to infant tragedies of dramatic proportions.

The Iranian missile program is their way to reach any of their targets at a given distance. Well... reach... it will go in the general direction and perhaps reach its intended target.
Proxies are oil-spill factors, they propagate, they expend, etc...
The nuclear program will enshrine the absolute and total impunity for Iran to conduct these operations without fearing any possible retaliation.

So this is where he was hiding all this time... clever.
Word is that his Strait of Hormuz wasn´t closed and lots of traffic went through. He did charge a toll though.

Indeed, Trump’s style is baffling.

But if you look beyond his bombastic proclamations at the reality of the situation, you have , in my opinion, quite a different picture. It is a waiting game, the winner is the one who outlasts their opponent. And in that respect, the most decisive element, the US blockade is still in place and effectively (and ruthlessly ) enforced. Whatever the mullahs say, their situation can but continue deteriorate sharply. Their best hope is holding till the Midterm elections, hoping to see a Democrat victory that will force an inversion of the current policy.

The present situation is, in my opinion, weirdly reminiscent of that of the summer of 1864. At that time, the Democrat ( !) party’s candidate was leading the incumbent Republican, Abraham Lincoln, with a peace program built from the war weariness of the Northern masses. And then, on July 22nd, Sherman took Atlanta, and instantly, the tables were turned and Lincoln gained the advantage over his opponent.

I’m not saying the situations are similar, and that an Atlanta style victory will happen to save Trump’s position. But the onus of changing the situation rests firmly on the mullahs’ shoulders : in the end, they will have to have the blockade lifted. They have been proved incapable of doing so through military means, can they wait till political attrition gives them the day ?

In the case of the US Civil War though the issue revolved around the US mainland, not some foreign war that the US population traditionally doesn’t care for at all.

I agree. The mullahs are obviously waiting until the midterms. In the meantime the blockade is costing Iran almost a half billion dollars per day. Who can outwait who?

I believe Nansouty's point is the anti-Trumpers are betting in the war to turn bad to capitalize on it.

Sure, it can be argued a portion, more or less significant, of the US does not really care about the war with Iran and would prefer the administration's attention to be more focused on domestic issues. However, wether they like it or not, Iran, despite being very far away from the US, is and remains an issue that will have to be dealt with sooner or later. And sooner much better than later.

But the anti-Trumpers don't care about the domestic issues either, in the end they are just invested in anything that can damage Trump's presidency and his administration. Each of these things the Administration is involved in are elements they are wishing will contribute to Trump's downfall.

That's pretty much the core of it: they want him to fail. Either through wishing for it or actively contributing in sabotaging efforts made by the Administration. And then there is the usual "making stuff up", because lying is easy and common practice.

Which they have been doing a lot. Either through the media, shared by the usual suspects in this threads and others places on the forum; or simply by making stuff up themselves out of ignorance, malice or because it is fun and without consequences. Being a nuisance for the sake of being a nuisance.
