AfD chairwoman Alice Weidel's personal security advisor has been convicted of a string of offences including criminal threats, discharging of a firearm, driving under the influence and hate speech. Philipp Roensch drove intoxicated to an asylum seekers' home, threatened two underage Syrians with a pistol and fired at least one blank at them. During a subsequent search of his premises, investigators also found internet content classified as hate speech under German law—including a "recipe" for sending people to the gas chamber. (
