The Austrian inventor and namesake of the ubiquitous Glock handgun, Gaston Glock, died Wednesday. He was 94 years old.

Firearms company Glock, Inc., announced the founder and inventor’s death, but did not provide further details.

In the early 2000s he also supported the extremist Austrian Freedom Party (FPÖ). He divorced his wife in 2011 - after 50 years - and she sued him in 2014 for $500 million, claiming that he had committed financial fraud, but lost the case. An interesting world for the Austrian Freedom Party, 20km from Gaston's estate was Haider's Baerental estate, which the family was able to buy from the Jewish owner at a very reasonable price in 1941.
