By the way – the tractors deployed on a carrier to move aircraft and whatnot around, what's their way of propulsion?

Of all the US Navy questions I've ever answer this is the first time for this. Aboard ship the USN use Jet fuel also known as JP-5. On shore most ground support gear uses diesel fuel. All of those tractors or tugs have diesel engines.

If this has changed someone let me know. Thanks!

The Griffon, the replacement of the French army's véhicule de l'avant blindé,with 1,872 planned vehicles is set to replace alongside the Serval (2,036 planned vehicles) the army's 2,700 strong VAB fleet.

From this point of view you would think the vehicle is gigantic. :D

Serval. This vehicle will be delivered in many versions,a part from armoured patrol missions, there could be ; 81 and 120 mm mortars, artillery observation, command, ambulance, engineering,short-range air defense variants....

While the army is waiting for these vehicles,it is upgrading some of its vab fleet to the ultima standard. Integration of RCWS,upgrades to armor, better resistance to IEDs,better communication systems.... This version has been delivered to the infantry, the engineers and soon the medical service.

However, given the 20-30 versions of this vehicle in service, doubt it will retire anytime soon even after the new vehicles are delivered. Especially for the newest versions. (Ultima)

"Arrano" engines? Is this word come from basque word arrano (eagle)?

Indeed,nice observation !

"Traditionally" explains Olivier Andriès, Turbomeca Chairman & CEO, "our engine names have links to the Pyrenees mountains, near where Turbomeca has its headquarters. ‘Arrano', or ‘eagle' in the Basque language, is very much a native of the Pyrenees.

Some pictures of Operation Bourgou IV,conducted at the borders between Mali and Burkina Faso to destroy any terrorist's presence in the area. 1400 soldiers participated in the operation,of which half were from the G5 Sahel force. 25 terrorists were neutralized, dozens of vehicles captured and ammos depots seized. The area of operation was about 45,000 km²,about the size of Estonia.

Jean Bart air defence frigate coming back from the Persian gulf. Its sister ship the Cassard was disarmed this year. The Jean Bart will remain in service till 2022 when the two frigates will be replaced by two FREMM fregates with enhenced air defence capabilities, the Alsace and Lorraine.

A330 MRTT. 15 aircrafts are planned. To date,12 have been ordered and 2 are in service. They are replacing not only the 14 C135FR and KC135 currently in service, but also 2 A340 and 3 A310 used for strategic transport. (Troops, material etc.) A great leap forward for the FAF.
