I missed this one somehow... A Belgian friend and I exchanged holiday gift packages early this year. His is stuck in customs waiting for him to pay D&T on gifts. Mine... stuck in my friend's house until BPost sends packages to America again.

My Hungarian friend bid on a dagger for me and got it. Now he says it will have to go UPS or FredEx since PostaMagyar also isn't sending packages to USA.

Trump must have REALLY pissed in somebody's Cheerios at EU central in Brussel!

Globalization scheme is ending Europe needs to protect itself.

China shall suffocate under their dumping and overcapacity eventually.

They even sell the steel below production prices those nifty commies as if that is reasonable. Only to deindustrilize the capitalist enemy it makes sense.

Commies always loved to have all production means belonging to the party to control everybody.

Hence put up tariffs subsidise some industries and shut them out. Can then produce as much steel as they please for whomever they can sell it to.

“We must continue to reduce energy costs and improve the conditions of competition and give a clear European response to global overcapacity and dumping prices. We want a clear focus on climate-friendly quality steel from Germany and Europe. For our infrastructure and defence, in the automotive industry and in other important areas, we want domestic and European steel to be used as a priority.”

Climate friendly and quality rule out affordable which is why it's never going to happen. People vote with their wallets.

Well the climate nic nac thing will probably be thrown overboard by reducing the climate goals. Nobody cares anyway about the environment China is full of schemes to greenwash them and fool the gullible over here.

Read about the Chinese reforestation effort. They do that to give work to 100000 and present it to the West. While only planting monoculturrs snd simultaneously deforesting the rest of the World with their wood consumption.

So we give them idiotic fields to play with us fools games.

Germany is planning of having an industrial electricity price of 5ct/kwh.

PMI of the Eurozone is expanding the last 8 months btw...

We need to end this exploitation game and focus solely on our well being.

But the one who buys cheap buys twice.

That's especially true for Chinese products to this day no quality product in sight.

Many bought Chinese tooling machines for example paid a bitter price.

Or the vid I saw about an overengineered German mask making machine compared to a cheap Chinese one. Surely wasn't built to CE standards they often just fake the certificates.

You want no rules no responsibility go Chinese and see if its cheaper in the end.

I saw companies working on 50 year old German equipment.

And now with all the drone sightings not good to have Huawei in the nets.

But it will not be easy countries like Slovakia already said they oppose that.

From consumer spending it's pretty clear what people choose. The masses overwhelming choose the cheaper alternative to Made in [EU country].

But yeah go and heavily push/force people to buy local products instead with substantial price hikes across the board as a result and subsequently wonder why your party is obliterated at the next election.

Hiryu posted the image a couple of posts up. For the Netherlands it shows EU defence as the overriding priority for the EU. Is that because the Dutch population is so concerned about the security of their country and the EU as a whole?

Well no. Following the recent elections loads of pollsters did surveys into people's motivations for voting the way they did and their reasoning on how the future government should proceed. And the one overwhelming consensus, unheard of in our completely fractured and polarised society, was that yes, the government will have to cut funding to make changes and every income, education and age group agreed that the Ministry of Defence should bear the hardest losses.

So the support for EU defence isn't about concern for the security of any EU member including our own country. It's just like could you all please foot the bill and do the dying in our place because we don't want to lose any of our comforts over it. And morally we're uncomfortable with it as well.

Now try suggesting a price increase of 25%? 50%? to address something which people don't see as a problem in the slightest and watch your party be turned irrelevant overnight. Because if they're not concerned enough to spend on their own defence against a genocidal nutcase at our own front door then they certainly aren't going to accept losing a large chunk of their disposable income to industrial concerns with strategic implications much further down the line in a world war that they never even thought of.

People don't vote with grand strategy (logistics) in mind, they vote because the cost of living is already more than they are comfortable with as it is.

The one good thing about politicians ignoring public will is that those defence cuts (up to 75% was mentioned by respondents quite often) are very unlikely to happen under any coalition which currently looks viable to take office.

So cut them off from the internet. Let's see how long it takes for their economy to crash and civil services to break down completely.

What are they going to do about it? Send a complaint to Brussels via carrier pigeon?

It's not about the ubiquitous daily low value item.

Ming Yang was shut out from an offshore windpark in Germany due to security concerns.

Now they hired a German ExBasf manager to enable them access to the European market.

These are the people who brought China up by ignoring everything and are just focused on their lame little career and endanger the whole Western world.

Just look how they support Russia they always lie can't get my head around how that can be positive.

The EUs mobile crane industry made an anti dumping appeal in Brussels.

If they get temporary tariffs on Chinese cranes after 6 months these can be converted to permanent ones.

The EUs finance ministers eliminated the 150 € toll limit on packages to be shipped toll free into the EU.

It's aimed at a flood of packages mainly coming from China. Austria alone had damages of 4,5 bill. €s.

It also increases product security by shunning the uncontrolled and unchecked parcels.
