EU wants to sign a free trade deal with India, China 2.0 and Russian supporter? Economically and politicaly short sighted.
India has one the most protected ecomomies, Aussie free trade deal dairy excluded. It will be a deal that advantages India and their notorious phamaceutical copied pills in brown bags, that's off the table.
Trump asked for colluding in 100% secondary tariffs and Ukraine is all but an EU country.
They are looking a little absurd.

A good idea to make far-right parties even stronger:

So … Ireland has voted, with the largest vote ever, for their most left-leaning president ever. Catherine Connolly. On the campaign trail, that hag embraced mass immigration from Africa; called for the arrest of Israeli officials and the boycott of Israeli companies; proposed the Irish Defence Forces could be abolished; and likened the German Chancellor to Hitler, accusing Germany of pushing the European Union towards war with Russia. What a fascinating person.

The only good thing about it IMHO is that the Irish president is mostly ceremonial and has no input on legislation

And what makes you think they're going to be voting any different in the next general election?

@Mike1976
Any thoughts?
Why did the Dutch veer to the left?

Would be interesting to see voter shift patterns. Where did Wilder's votes go, where did Jetten's votes come from?

Why people turn from left to right and back after next election?

Anyway, I believe D69, rather than D66, would suit a name of a liberal party much more.

The EU is really daft and seems to walk on eggs giving the slightest pressure.

That's not good. Brussels technocrats need to learn some strategic lessons.

First they ignored the problems China will make once having a purposefully built monopoly.

Second they weren't able to build up capacities to nullify pressure from China. Always hoping for the same thing which will never materialise. A somewhat westernized China with international obligations it fulfills.

It's an autocratic one party ruled country with mind control get over it and deal with them accordingly.

Adding to that the EUs purchasing of 300 bill. of Chinese goods is such a big lever that China would get enormous problems not being able to sell their overproduction as their market is ever shrinking and deflating. They already reroute their excess capacities.

The aim must be to be totally independent from them in the future.
