A senior government official, speaking on background, said a formal announcement will be made Monday

Trudeau during his election campaign said he will use mainly the army only for peacekeeping mission for the UN. He still have a dream for Canada to get a seat at the UNSC (it will never happen but he can dream).
Currently Canada have 20 military personnel in UN mission (there is 77 in Sinai but it's not a UN mission).
