Royal Marines from the Commando Helicopter Force provided force protection and secured a Forward Arming and Fueling Point (FARP), whilst the Force’s Aircraft Handlers delivered essential aviation fuel in snow chained tankers.
In a setting in the High North usually unseen elements of the Force have been undertaking vital training to resupply helicopters with fuel in isolated locations.
Just fitting massive snow chains to the Oshkosh tankers was a Herculean feat but necessary to allow them to drive off road. All the marines deployed on the ground providing force protection had undergone cold weather survival training, and were deployed to ensure the ground was secure for incoming helicopters in need of replenishment.
