John Silkstone has just reminded me about Brasso tins (see his Basic Training thread)
All gunners will remember scraping off the enamel ie advertising, to leave the capital initials "RA" especially when you were naughty boys!
I wonder if there are any other units/regiments who had some utterly pointless time consuming exercises?

For those wondering what the hell were talking about here

When serving with the Royal Regiment of Artillery one of the bullshit routines was to make us wire wool all the paint off the Brasso tin (metal polish) and leave only the RA remaining on a shiny silver tin.
