PHILIPPINE NAVY RECEIVES FIRST TETHERED AEROSTAT RADAR SYSTEM FROM US

After two years since it was allocated by the US government as a military air for the Philippines, it has finally arrived.

The Philippine Navy received its first Tethered Aerostat Radar System (TARS), which is among the military assistance promised by former Pres. Obama in 2015 under the US government's Southeast Asia Maritime Security Initiative.

From MaxDefense FB Page:

Guess what was in Clark Air Base recently, which goes well to reports earlier made of its presence during demonstrations.

Behold the Elbit Systems Hermes 900 Kochav medium altitude, long endurance unmanned aerial vehicle, which is being offered to the Philippine Air Force and the Philippine Navy for their long range surveillance UAV requirements.

Blackened-out the person on the background, who actually owns the photo, to retain his anonymity.

It would be the most advanced UAV in ASEAN if the AFP buys it.

The US government has officially handed-over this afternoon the two brand new Cessna 208B Grand Caravan surveillance aircraft it promised to give the Philippine military in 2015 as part of the Pentagon's Southeast Asia Maritime Security Initiative. The Philippine Air Force's 300th Air Intelligence & Security Group will operate the aircraft.

Based on the photos, it does not have its surveillance systems installed yet, and the aircraft still sport its US registration numbers and not yet painted to PAF's own paint scheme.

For 12 days, this Muslim community leader hid a group of Christians in his house, as extremist rebels in #Marawi went on a killing spree.

It's one of many tales of heroism in the midst of conflict
