I was stationed in Lakehurst to attend a USN school . from Dec.82 to March of 83. Then another school from March '85 to June of '85.

The airship hangars were constructed of wood..that's right. There's a memorial plaque on the spot where the Hindenburg crashed.

The Airship hangars still stand.
