The Musée des Blindés of Saumur just uploaded this very heartening video, showing how they are restoring the engine and running gear of their Tiger 1 (which served in the French army in the few years after WW2). It's in French, unfortunately, but you see what a high-tech process with international cooperation this is. The engine will be restored by a Polish firm called "the Panzer Farm". A lot of parts are not serviceable, so they will have to be remade : they will be printed, after the original have been scanned, a process that can take months for a single part. The running gear is repaired in Saumur, which will also be quite complicated as some wheels seem to be damaged. In the meantime, the tank is disassembled, only parts of it can be displayed. Looking forward for the completion of the project, count on me to see it do its first public steps!
