RAF Waddington is the second of the biggest of the Royal Air Force airshows and takes place at RAF Waddington in Lincolnshire. I have been there quite a few times and the range of displays both air and static are awesome. There is always something new to see. It is well organised and a truly great day out. The event takes place over two days (Sat/Sun) I would recommend this airshow to everybody. Here is the official website http://www.waddingtonairshow.co.uk/

Just watched this movie, an awesome film and a must see. A small unit of soldiers is positioned on a ridge overlooking the Kajaki dam. A three-man patrol sets out to disable a Taliban roadblock. In a dried out river bed at the foot of the ridge, one of the patrol detonates a land mine, blowing off his leg and setting into motion a desperate rescue mission. When I first watched this film I fell in love with it. It's similar in plot and storyline to films such as Platoon, Full Metal Jacket and Officer and a Gentleman... However it's kind've given a slightly comical edge. Clint is a majorally experienced Sergeant in the Marines and is busy getting himself into a lot of trouble when he gets transferred home. There he is given a platoon of down and outers who have joined the Army cos they've got nothing better to do. The first half of the film...

"The Tinfish Run" is the first in a series of three about life aboard ships of the Royal Navy in WW2, by author Ronald Bassett - the others are "The Pierhead Jump" and "The Neptune Landing". They focus on the experiences of principal character Signalman "Lobby" Ludd. I have read a lot of naval fiction, and these 3 books really stand out - for authentic atmosphere and dialog, gripping stories, and the right amount of humour (especially Ludd's and the other sailors' misadventures ashore)....
