Corporal Thomas Henry (Tom or "Buddy") Lea, 10 Platoon, D Company, 6 RAR, of Rockhampton, Qld, moves cautiously into a Viet Cong village with his Owen gun at the ready during the first mission by the 6th Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (6RAR), Operation Enoggera.

18th September, 2014.
THOMAS Henry 'Buddy' Lea was farewelled "exactly how he would have wanted yesterday" - in a big room filled with music, laughter and those he loved.
Almost 1000 mourners packed Hervey Bay's Baptist Church on Thursday to honour the Vietnam veteran, who passed away last weekend.
An opening joke from his son Barry, who told those struggling to find a seat that in the words of his indigenous father - "it's not like the laundry, you can mix the whites and colours" helped lighten the heaviness of what was to come.
As an honour guard marched his flag-draped coffin through the crowd, people stood to pay their final respects to the war hero they knew as "Buddy".

WACKY VIETNAM HISTORY
Story told to Bob Meehan by Noel Hains
Way back in 1968-69, Victor Company, New Zealand infantry were attach to 4 RAR. While on operations... near the Courtney Rubber Plantation in the north of Phuoc Tuy Province, South Vietnam, a Forward scout saw something that didn’t look right in the thick scrub in front of him……. A section of their fineness moved forward to discover an old French Citroën car. As the photos show they dragged it clear of the undergrowth, repaired and painted it…………they were instructed to get rid of it as it was not military issued………not to be out-done by the authorities, some red and white paint mixed together, they painted it PINK and then donated it to Sister Pam Terry (Nurse) of the RNZNC to be used by them to drive around Vung Tau…………This was then passed on to each of the Aussie and Kiwi nurses over that following years………..
NOTE!!! The bullet holes in the door and back window and the number plate...........
