Been looking at a few of this type of pic, seems a huge waste to me but I suppose the navy have to have some realistic target practice. The sinking of these ships is a fantastic spectacle though so if anybody has any more please feel free, doesnt matter if they are just different views of the same ships.

God I hate to see ships being blown up. But it´s a better fate for them than just being left to rust and rot away in some harbor, I guess.

The target was an ex Turkish Navy Tepe class ASW Frigate (ex USN Knox). Sunk with Hellfire, Mk.32 torpedo and Harpoon ASM fired from the different platforms.

A Mexican navy Bo-105 Bölkow helicopter fires two 70 mm high-explosive rockets at the decommissioned Spruance-class destroyer ex-USS Conolly (DD 979) while under way in the Atlantic Ocean during a sinking exercise in support of UNITAS Gold 29 April 2009

The ultimate target ship exercise? I realize little was known of radioactivity in 1946, but it was a shame the atoll had to be rendered uninhabitable. Just checked with google-fu to find Bikini could actually be resettled today. Doesn't look like islanders are lining up to go live there, though.

USS Guam. It gives you an idea of how much ordinance it takes to sink a big ship.

Ex-USS Fife, Sinkex 2005. What a tough ship. Even after taking two Mk 48 torpedoes and losing the bow, she remains afloat.

It goes to show that sinking a modern warship which can maneuver, defend itself, and has functioning damage control, is not a walk in the park.

USS Cushing. Too bad the US Navy got rid of all the Spruances so early in their life cycle. Even without Aegis, it seems a use could have been found for some of them.
