A closer look at one of the Philippine Army's M113A2+ Armored Mortar Carriers with the Soltam Cardom 81mm Mobile Mortar System.

Take note that the 81mm mortar is scheduled for replacement with a 120mm mortar as part of a separate ongoing Armored Mortar Carrier project won also by Elbit Systems Land & C4I.

The mounting will remain the same, as the mortar itself is detachable and can be replaced with a bigger 120mm mortar designed for the system.

According to the report from Inquirer.net, the DND and the Philippine Navy has completed negotiations on the Corvette Acquisition Project, with Post Qualification Inspections proceeding afterwards.

So far, based on our checking with sources, the DND and PN only did final negotiations with 1 company, which is Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) of South Korea.

The DND and PN are positive the initial funding would be available for the project, which is being pushed for soft loan paid via multi-year obligation allocations.

More on the report, together with confirmation of MaxDefense Philippines' earlier report on restarting of bidding for Landing Docks Acquisition Project on the link: https://newsinfo.inquirer.net/1496655/process-to-acquire-landing-docks-for-ph-navy-restarts

HDF-2600 is the Jose Rizal-class, making the HDC-3100 design bigger and better as HDC-3100 has 8x AShM launchers, and a 16x VLS store.

It wouldn't be surprising if the HDC-3100 design gets re-designated as a Frigate down the line.

Marines conduct cross-training among its Operations, Artillery, and Armor Schools.

SAN ANTONIO, Zambales – The newly activated schools, the Marine Special Operations School of the Force Reconnaissance Group and the Marine Artillery School of the Field Artillery Battalion cross-trained with the Assault Armor Battalion’s Marine School of Armor (MSA).

The Commanders of each unit were able to synchronize Marine personnel training with amphibious warfare, the unique competency of the Philippine Marine Corps. Amphibious warfare requires amphibious operation, which is acknowledged as the most complex military maneuver and military operation. Cross-training mitigates risks and increases the proficiency in performing the complexities of an amphibious operation.

Maj. Francel P. Mendoza PN(M) (GSC), the MSA Director, supported the interoperability training to harmonize each skill set and to effectively address the complexities of amphibious operations. Marine Commandant Maj. Gen. Ariel R. Caculitan PN(M) encourages interoperability training within the organization to increase readiness in operations and prepare the Corps to be more responsive in archipelagic coastal defense. This kind of training is also replicated in other branches of service of the AFP to complement their ground, air, surface, and sub-surface capabilities.

Both helicopters are being used to train pilots that would eventually be assigned with the upcoming T129B ATAC attack helicopters.

They will also get optical upgrades, in the form of "AH-1S Night Targeting System" transferred from the Kingdom of Jordan, as the Dept. of Budget and Management relased the SARO (Special Allotment Release Order) last April of this year.
