In 1901 he was a patient in Royal Naval Hospital, Clarence Place, East Stonehouse, Devon
Died of an aortic aneurysm (balloon-like bulge in the aorta) at sea oh his ship 30 September 1910 aged 40. His father was informed of his death 31st September 1910.
He was laid to rest 1st October 1910, in Plot B Grave 192, Capuccini Naval Cemetery, Malta. (Unmarked burial)

The remains of the late Carpenter's Mate William Thomas Osborne, H.M.S. Cornwallis, who died shortly after the vessel had left Platea, on her way to Malta, were interred on Saturday afternoon in the New Bighi Cemetery, with the usual naval honours. Deceased who was 36 years of age, had not long been married. He had been ailing of late, but was always hopeful of recovery without having recourse to medical treatment. He was greatly esteemed among his shipmates who testified their affection in numerous wreaths.
