William Sharman DOUGLAS. Private 1st Class 51048877, Light Weapons Infantryman of 24th Infantry Division unit 0021. Awarded the Purple Heart.
Born 20 January 1926 at Newtownards Country Down Northern Ireland to William Sharman and Mary Elizabeth Douglas. Resided at Erie County, New York
Disembarked in America from Northern Ireland 1947. Drafted in 1949, Killed in action in at Chochiwon, South Korea 11 July 1950 where he remined for two years when until he was repatriated and laid to rest in Woodlawn National Cemetery, Elmira, New York

DOWN MAN REPORTED MISSING On Korea War Front Mr and Mrs. William Douglas. Poraferry Road. Newtownards, have been notified that their youngest son Sharman is missing while on active service in Korea
